Chapter 3: Maintenance and Component Installation
Caution:
Use caution when working around the hard drive backplane. Do not touch the
backplane with any metal objects and make sure no ribbon cables touch the backplane or
obstruct the holes, which aid in proper airflow.
Caution:
Regardless of how many hard drives are installed, all drive carriers must remain in
the drive bays to maintain proper airflow.
Note:
Enterprise level hard disk drives are recommended for use in Supermicro chassis and
servers. For information on recommended HDDs, visit the Supermicro website.

Removing a Hot-Swap Drive Carrier from the Chassis
1. Press the release button on the drive carrier, which will extend the drive carrier handle.
2. Use the drive carrier handle to pull the drive out of the chassis.
