Removing and Installing System Fans
Each node in the system has three counter-rotating fans. Remove the failed fan's wiring from
the motherboard. Begin by identifying the failed fan and powering down the node it resides in.
Removing and Installing System Fans
1. With the node powered down, extend it from the chassis and remove the cover.
2. Disconnect the failed fan's wiring from the motherboard.
3. Remove the pins securing the fan to the fan tray.
4. Lift the failed fan from the fan tray and out of the chassis.
5. Place the new fan into the vacant space in the fan tray, while making sure the arrows on
the top of the fan (indicating air direction) point in the same direction as the arrows on
the other fans.
6. Reconnect the fan wiring to the same fan header the previous fan used.
7. Power on the node and check that the fan is working properly, then replace the chassis
cover and push the node back into the chassis.
