Chapter 3: Maintenance and Component Installation

3.2 Accessing the System

The SC505 chassis features a removable top cover to allow access to components inside.

Removing the Top Cover

1. 

Remove the five screws that hold the chassis cover in place. There are two screws on 

each side of the chassis, and one screw on the back. 

2. 

Slide the cover toward the rear and lift it off the chassis.

Check that all ventilation openings on the top cover and the top of the chassis are clear and 
unobstructed.

Caution

: Except for short periods of time, do not operate the server without the cover in place. 

The chassis cover must be in place to allow for proper airflow and to prevent overheating.
