Chapter 6: Advanced Chassis Setup
6-9
6-5 Power
Supply
The SuperServer 7044H-32R has a triple redundant 760 watt power supply con-
sisting of three power modules. Each power supply module has an auto-switching
capability, which enables it to automatically sense and operate at a 100V - 240V
input voltage.
Power Supply Failure
If any of the three power supply modules fail, the other two modules will take the
full load and allow the system to continue operation without interruption. The PWR
Fail LED will illuminate and remain on until the failed unit has been replaced. Re-
placement units can be ordered directly from Supermicro (see contact information
in the Preface). The power supply modules have a hot-swap capability, meaning
you can replace the failed module without powering down the system.
Removing/Replacing the Power Supply
You do not need to shut down the system to replace a power supply unit. The re-
dundant feature will keep the system up and running while you replace the failed hot-
swap unit. Replace with the same model - SP382-TS (p/n PWS-0050M), which can
be ordered directly from Supermicro (see Contact Information in the Preface).
Note:
the part number for a single module is PWS-0050M (SP382-TS), the part
number for the entire power unit (all three modules plus the housing and power
distributor) is PWS-0050 (SP762-TS).
1. Removing the power supply
First unplug the power cord from the failed power supply unit. Then depress the
locking tab on the power supply unit and pull the unit straight out with the rounded
handle.
2. Installing a new power supply
Replace the failed hot-swap unit with another SP382-TS power supply unit (p/n
PWS-0050M). Simply push the new power supply unit into the power bay until
you hear a click. Secure the locking tab on the unit and fi nish by plugging the AC
power cord back into the unit.
