4.3.5 Preserving the integrity of the roof membrane
is the most important roofing consideration. Ensure
that all roof penetrations required to plumb and
mount the solar collector are properly flashed and
sealed in accordance with best roofing practices.
4.3.6 If the SunSiphon is mounted on a flat roof or
on the ground, a mounting rack is required. The
minimum tilt angle from horizontal in the conti-
nental United States should not be less than 15º. A
20º - 25º angle is preferable. Mounting racks with
tilt angles greater than 25º require very long support
legs and are not recommended. The length of the
solar collectors primarily determines the support leg
length.

Note: We do not recommend the use of 4’ X 10’
collectors for rack mount applications.
