How to Put the Server in Diagnostic
Mode

Firmware-based diagnostic tests can be bypassed to expedite the server’s startup
process. The following procedure ensures that POST and OpenBoot Diagnostics tests

do run

during startup.

Before You Begin

You must decide whether you want the diagnostics output to appear locally, via a
terminal or

tip

connection to the machine’s serial port, or remotely after redirecting

system console output to RSC.

Note –

A server can have only one system console at a time, so if you redirect

output to RSC, no information appears at the serial port (

ttya

).
