Chapter 3 Installing Solaris OE From the Installation CD 15
By initiating installation with CD 0, the Solaris operating environment is installed
along with the required adapter patches.
Installing the Solaris OE With the CD 0s
There are two ways to install the Solaris software:
■
Install the Solaris OE directly on the system from the appropriate CD 0.
■
Install an image from the Media Kit of the Solaris OE on an installation server,
patch the image using the binary images from the CD 0, and then use the patched
image to install the Solaris OE on the systems.
This Solaris release can be installed, by either of the above methods, on systems that
do not have a frame buffer and monitor. This installation CD 0 also provides a direct
installation method via a command-line interface that can operate through a TIP line
connected to the “headless” system.
Note –
To set up a TIP connection, see the detailed instructions in the
documentation for your system. General information about TIP operations is in the
OpenBoot Command Reference Manuals. The TIP connection must be established before
you can use the installation CD 0.
