5.3
Design, task and function of the assembly groups
The limit switch consists of a gear part and one or two switch parts (design A or design B), which are firmly fitted
to each other.
The speed of the last gear part will be transferred via positive locking on the switching shaft. The cam discs
fastened to the switching shaft for operation of the contacts can be adjusted infinitely and independently from
each other. As additional equipment, a block adjustment can be fitted, whereby the cam discs that can be indi-
vidually adjusted to each other can be adjusted as a block.
According to the required contact arrangement, cam discs with 40° or 180°can be fitted − cams are fitted in ser-
ies and all other degree values are fitted as special equipment. The switch settings of the cam discs can be
adjusted by the customer, see section 6.6.
The gearbox is a combination of worm and spur gears. For the gearbox with 35 nominal revolutions, a worm
gear reduction is installed. The drive shaft is installed transversely to the switching shaft and can be equipped
with an encoder as a special shaft with a second shaft end for 1:1 drive. The gear wheels installed are a brass-
steel combination. The lubrication applied during assembly is sufficient for lifetime lubrication.
For the shaft bearing, maintenance-free grooved ball bearings are fitted. A check of the lubrication is not neces-
sary.
The housing is made of salt water resistant aluminium. The cover is sealed to the gearbox housing with O-rings.
The switch housing complies with protection class IP 65 in accordance with EN 60529.
