IF  A  COMBUSTIBLE  SHELF  IS  INSTALLED  ABOVE  THE 
FIREPLACE, IT  MUST  ABSOLUTELY  BE  PROTECTED  WITH 
THE  HEAT  SHIELD  FOR  SURROUND/SHELF  (K).  THE 
POSITION  SHOWN  IN  (G)  IS  SPECIFIC  TO  OPTION 
AC01324**. 

**An alternative to the position of the heat shield shown 
in 

(K)

  would  be  to  make  a  non-combustible  heat  shield 

(M)

  that  meets  the  following  requirements:  Must  be 

located exactly 1" bellow the combustible shelf 

(L)

. Must 

have the same depth as the shelf to be protected. Must 
have  at  least  the  same  width  as  the  fireplace  and  must 
be perfectly centered with the shelf.
