Hazards for personnel
According to German industrial safety and
health regulations (BetrSichVO) and health
and safety at work regulations (ArbSchG),
the operator (see ⇒ Chapter "Definition of
terms used for responsible persons", P. 18)
must determine and assess the hazards for
his operations. He must determine the occu-
pational safety measures for his personnel
(BetrSichVO). The operator must therefore
make public the work instructions for his op-
erations (para. 6 of ArbSchG) and instruct the
driver accordingly. A safety officer must be
appointed.
Construction and equipment of the truck cor-
respond to the machinery directive 98/37/EEC
and are therefore marked with the CE symbol.
They are therefore not included in the hazard
assessment. The same applies for attach-
ments on account of their own CE marking.
The operator, however, must select the type
and equipment of trucks in such a way that
they conform to local operating regulations.
The result must be documented (para. 6 of
ArbSchG). For truck applications with a similar
hazard potential the results can be bundled.
With the overview (see ⇒ Chapter "Overview
of hazards and preventive measures", P. 2-14)
we hope to help you to comply with these reg-
ulations. The chart lists important hazards
which are the most frequent cause of acci-
dents if not observed. If further important
operational hazards exist, they must also be
taken into consideration.
In many work places the operating conditions
of the trucks will be so similar that the hazards
can be summarized in a chart. Also please ob-
serve the information of your trade association
on this subject.
