Ignition timing is not adjustable.
Since there is no mechanical wear
in these systems, ignition timing
cannot get out of adjustment. How-
ever, an internal fault in the circuit
can alter the switching point in
such a way that a spark test will
still show the system to be in order
although timing is outside the
permissible tolerance. This will
impair engine starting and running
behavior.
- Remove the shroud -
- Remove the clutch housing with
drive tube -
•
Disconnect short circuit wire
from ignition module.
•
Remove ignition lead from the
retainers.
•
Take out the screws.
- Remove the ignition module.
•
Slip feeler gauge (0.4 mm)
between the arms of the ignition
module and the flywheel magnet
poles.
- Press the ignition module
against the feeler gauge and
tighten down the mounting
screws.
Reassemble all other parts in the
reverse sequence.
