Final Assembly Continued

Motor and Gearbox Continued

55.

Slide the motor, big gear up, within the opening at the

nose

of the fuselage.  Push the motor

back  until fully seated within the recess cut to the motor mount plate.  Ensure that the motor

is  resting flat on the plate, then with a fine glue tip on your  bottle of glue, reach in through

the  “cowl  cooling”  holes  on  either  side  of  the  motor  and  tack  glue  the  motor  tabs  with

medium CA.  Do not apply too much glue as the motor should be free to “snap” loose in the

event of a less than perfect landing, preventing damage to the nose of the aircraft.

Wing Installation

56.

Cut the second length of provided 1/32 inch diameter wire in half then pass these pieces  of

wire through the holes  in the fuselage side where the wing will  be mounted.   These wires

will assist in aligning part W6 in the next step.

57.

Slide the

right

rib W6 over the wires and tack glue to the fuselage side.  Repeat this process

for  the

left

W6 rib applying it to the opposite side of the fuselage.   Remove your alignment

wires and final bond the ribs with thin CA.

58.

Fit and bond the ply spar  W7 to the slots  in the fuselage sides  and ribs W6.   Note: Ensure

that the top surface of ply spar W7 seats  flush with the top surface of the fuselage sides  and

W6.

59.

Now, fit the wing center section sheeting W8 to the tabs  on the

rear

  of the fuselage sides/

ribs  W6.   Note: W8 will not actually cover ribs  W6 as  the upper surface of W6 needs  to be

exposed to provide a landing point for the wing panels  in step 61.    The

rear

 of W8 will butt

up flush against the fuselage top sheeting.   Bond W8 to the fuselage top sheeting and the

rear

portion of the fuselage sides/ribs W6.

60.

Continue to bend/wrap W8 over the

forward

 portion of the fuselage sides

adjacent

 to ribs

W6 and bond with medium CA glue.

61.

Fit the

right

wing panel  by inserting the tab on the end of spar W6 into the slot within rib W3.

Rest the

underside

of the wing panel on the

upper

surface of rib W6.  With the wing panel

properly positioned begin to tack  glue the wing to rib W6 and spar W7 with medium CA at

tab and notch locations.  Repeat this step to install the

left

 wing panel.

Windscreen

62.

Install the acetate windscreen at this  time.   Remove the protective backing from the wind

screen  and  wrap  windscreen  around  fuselage  positioning  it  evenly  over  the  window

openings  at

right

 and

left

of fuselage.   Retain the windscreen in position using small strips

of low-tack  masking tape.  Bond the windscreen to the assembly at several points  along it’s

perimeter  by  lifting  the acetate  and  placing  a  tiny  drop of  medium CA glue between  the

windscreen and the fuselage  side.

Tip:  Do  not place these drops  close to  your  masking

tape as the glue may wick along the tape making an unsightly mess.   Leave the tape mask

in place for 10-15 minutes or until the glue has cured.
