Enclosure and attachment to the
mounting surface
The CO
2
air quality sensor features a multi-
sectional, screwless enclosure made of acry-
lonitrile-butadiene-styrene (ABS) for "surface"
mounting. The enclosure material passes the
ball indentation test at 75°C. The enclosure is
120 mm in diameter and 60 mm in height.
The enclosure baseplate, together with the
electrical connection terminals and leads,
can be detached from the enclosure section
containing the sensor and secured to the
mounting surface with relative ease. The en-
closure section holding the sensor can then be
pushed onto the baseplate and, if necessary,
secured in place with the retaining screw.
Electrical connections
The supply and connection leads
for the CO
2
air quality sensor are
screw-connected to the 2-pole
screw terminal on the mounting plate.
Once the electrical connections have been
made, the sensor simply pushes onto the
mounting plate.
Assembly / Installation
The CO
2
air quality sensor is maintenance-free.
In the event of a fault, it is necessary to change
the defective CO
2
air quality sensor. For this
purpose, the part of enclosure with the sensor
can be detached from the baseplate fixed to the
mounting surface after undoing the retaining
screw (if fitted).
Care and maintenance
The CO
2
air quality sensor is equipped with a
potentiometer and a button concealed behind
a decorative ring after it is put into operation.
The potentiometer can be used for calibrating
altitude. The Fresh Air Cal. button is for cali-
brating a personal (subjective) perception of
fresh air.
Altitude calibration:
Altitude calibration must be performed once
the air quality sensor is supplied with power.
To do this, the geographical altitude at the site
of installation must be known and set at the
potentiometer (0 – 2000 m above sea level).
The 2000 setting must be used at altitudes of
more than 2000 m above sea level. After set-
ting the altitude, keep the button pressed for
approx. 5s. The sensor memorises the newly
programmed altitude after about 5s and the
button can be released. The device can be re-
turned to the factory setting with altitude cali-
brated at 0 m. (State on leaving the factory)
Setting the switching thresholds
for the LED "traffic light" display
using the Fresh Air Cal. button
You can also set the switching thresholds to
suit your own perception (subjectively). To do
this, turn the potentiometer to 0. If you feel the
air in the room is "ok" (e.g. after airing the
room), press the Fresh Air Cal. button and hold
it down for approx. 1s. The sensor registers
the current CO
2
value. Now you can let the
button go again. This procedure produces a
virtual shift in the lower point of the measure-
ment range (300 – 2000 ppm CO
2
), setting it to
400 ppm. The result is a newly defined meas-
urement range, with the switch-over thresholds
for the LED’s shifting accordingly. See graph
for an example of fresh-air calibration.
Be careful not to keep the button pressed
for too long or altitude will be re-calibrated.
