9.5.4 Transmitting an Individual Call

This feature allows you to contact another vessel, switch their radio to a

requested working channel and ring like a telephone. This feature is similar

to calling a vessel on CH16 and requesting to go to another channel.

Individual Call from Individual / Position Call Directory

1. Press the

key. The “

2. Press the

keys to select

INDIVIDUAL

”. (To cancel, press the

soft key.)

3. Press the

soft key. The transceiv-

er will beep, and the “

INDIVIDUAL

” menu

will appear. The previous four individual

contacts will be listed.

4. Press the

keys to select an

individual you want to contact.

Press the

soft key to select an

individual other than those on the display.

5. Press the

soft key, then press the

keys to select the operating

channel you want to communicate on and

press the

soft key.

6. Press the

soft key to transmit the

individual DSC signal.

7. After an individual call is transmitted, if

the reply signal is not received, “

WAIT

FOR ACK

” is shown on the display which

means the

GX1200E

is waiting for the

vessel you called to send an acknowl-

edgement.

8. To transmit the call again, press the

RESEND

soft key.

9. When the

GX1200E

receives an acknowledgement from the vessel

you called, the radio will automatically switch to the operating channel

selected in step 5 and produce a ringing sound.

10. Key the microphone and call the other vessel you desire to communi-

cate with.
