Verstärker anschließen
Alle Anschlüsse dürfen nur bei ausgeschaltetem
Gerät hergestellt bzw. verändert werden!
5.1 Eingang
An eines der Buchsenpaare im Anschlußfeld INPUT
[6,3-mm-Klinke (6), Cinch (7) oder XLR (13)] den Aus-
gang eines Vorverstärkers oder eines Mischpults
anschließen. Beim Brückenbetrieb nur den jeweils lin-
ken Kanal (LEFT) anschließen. Die symmetrischen
Eingänge XLR oder Klinke sollten bevorzugt verwen-
det werden, weil eine symmetrische Signalübertra-
gung die beste Störunterdrückung, besonders bei lan-
gen Verbindungskabeln, bietet. Das Eingangssignal
sollte Line-Pegel aufweisen.
5.2 Lautsprecher
Der Verstärker kann im Stereobetrieb zwei Lautspre-
cher bzw. zwei Lautsprechergruppen betreiben. Zur
Bereitstellung der doppelten Ausgangsleistung läßt
er sich auf Brückenbetrieb umschalten. Der Verstär-
ker arbeitet dann als 1-Kanal-Verstärker, gibt jedoch
400 W Sinus an einen 8-
Ω
-Lautsprecher bzw. an
eine 8-
Ω
-Lautsprechergruppe ab.
Der Lautsprecheranschluß erfolgt über Speakon-
Buchsen. Zum Anschluß den Speakon-Stecker in die
entsprechende Buchse (siehe Kap. 5.2.1 oder 5.2.2)
stecken und nach rechts drehen, bis er einrastet.
Zum Herausziehen den Sicherungsriegel am Stecker
nach hinten schieben, und den Stecker nach links
drehen.
5.2.1 Stereobetrieb
Die größte Ausgangsleistung im Stereobetrieb wird
beim Anschluß von 4-
Ω
-Lautsprechern erreicht. Es
können jedoch auch 8-
Ω
-Lautsprecher angeschlos-
sen werden, wobei sich die Ausgangsleistung aber
etwas verringert. Die Lautsprecher müssen mit min-
destens folgender Sinusleistung belastbar sein:

8-
Ω
-Lautsprecher: 150 W
Für den Stereobetrieb die beiden Buchsen RIGHT
und LEFT (8) im Anschlußfeld OUTPUT verwenden,
und den Funktionsschalter (14) auf der Geräterück-
seite in die Position STEREO schieben.
Die Anschlußmöglichkeiten für mehrere Lautspre-
cher an einen Kanal sind in den Abb. 4 – 6 dargestellt.
Beim Zusammenschalten von mehreren Lautspre-
chern ist besonders auf die richtige Verbindung der
Plus- und Minusanschlüsse zu achten und darauf,
daß die Gesamtimpedanz mindestens 4
Ω
beträgt.
5.2.2 Brückenbetrieb
Beim Brückenbetrieb muß die Impedanz des Laut-
sprechers bzw. die Gesamtimpedanz einer Lautspre-
chergruppe mindestens 8
Ω
und die Belastbarkeit
mindestens 400 W Sinus betragen. Für den An-
schluß die Buchse BRIDGED (9) im Anschlußfeld
OUTPUT verwenden, und den Funktionsschalter
(14) auf der Geräterückseite in die Position
BRIDGED schieben.
Die Anschlußmöglichkeiten für mehrere Lautspre-
cher im Brückenbetrieb sind in den Abb. 4 – 6 darge-
stellt. Beim Zusammenschalten von mehreren Laut-
sprechern ist besonders auf die richtige Verbindung
der Plus- und Minusanschlüsse zu achten und darauf,
daß die Gesamtimpedanz mindestens 8
Ω
beträgt.
5.3 Netzanschluß
Zum Schluß den Verstärker an eine Steckdose
(230 V~/50 Hz) anschließen. Vor dem ersten Ein-
schalten die Regler LEFT (2) und RIGHT (3) ganz
nach links auf Null drehen.

Bedienung
6.1 Ein /-Ausschalten
Zur Vermeidung von lauten Schaltgeräuschen den
Verstärker in einer Audio-Anlage immer nach allen
anderen Geräten einschalten und ihn nach dem
Betrieb als erstes Gerät wieder ausschalten. Nach
dem Einschalten leuchtet für ca. 3 Sekunden die
LED PROTECT (1). In dieser Zeit ist die Einschalt-
verzögerung zum Schutz der Lautsprecher aktiviert.
Als Betriebsanzeige leuchtet die LED POWER
ON (4) und je nach gewähltem Betriebsmodus [mit
Schalter (14)] die LED STEREO bzw. BRIDGED (1).
6.2 Pegel einstellen
Bei Brückenbetrieb den rechten Regler RIGHT (3)
ganz nach links auf Null drehen, und nur mit dem lin-
ken Regler LEFT (2) die Lautstärke einstellen. Den
linken Regler bzw. bei Stereobetrieb beide Regler
nur so weit wie notwendig aufdrehen, bis die maxi-
mal gewünschte Lautstärke erreicht ist. Die roten
LEDs CLIP LEFT und CLIP RIGHT (1) zeigen Über-
steuerungen des Verstärkers an. Die Regler dann
etwas zurückdrehen.
6.3 Groundlift-Schalter
Ist beim Geräteaufbau eine Masseschleife entstan-
den (z. B. vom Verstärkergehäuse über das Rack zu
einem anderen Gerätegehäuse), tritt ein Brummen
auf (z. B. bei leisen Musikpassagen). Diese Masse-
schleife läßt sich mit dem Groundlift-Schalter (15)
unterbrechen. Dazu den Schalter in die Position LIFT
schieben. Das Brummen sollte aufhören.
Anderseits ist der Verstärker nicht gegen elektri-
sche Störfelder abgeschirmt, wenn das Gehäuse
nicht an Masse liegt. In diesem Fall den Groundlift-
Schalter in die Position GND schieben. Im Zweifels-
fall den Schalter wechselweise schalten, um die opti-
male Einstellung zu finden.

Schutzschaltung
Die Schutzschaltung verhindert Beschädigungen der
Lautsprecher und des Verstärkers. Ist sie aktiviert,
sind die Lautsprecher elektrisch vom Verstärker
getrennt, und die rote LED PROTECT (1) leuchtet:
1. ca. 3 Sekunden lang nach dem Einschalten (Ein-
schaltverzögerung)
2. wenn an einem Lautsprecherausgang (8 oder 9)
ein Kurzschluß aufgetreten ist
3. wenn an einem Lautsprecherausgang eine Gleich-
spannung anliegt
4. wenn beide Kanäle überhitzt sind (LED OVER-
HEAT leuchtet zusätzlich)
Leuchtet die rote LED PROTECT während des Be-
triebs auf oder erlischt sie nicht nach dem Einschal-
4.1 Rack mounting
For rack mounting 2 rack spaces (= 89 mm) are re-
quired. However, additional space should remain
above and below the amplifier, to ensure a sufficient
ventilation.
To prevent the rack from becoming top-loaded,
the amplifier has to be mounted in the lower part of
the rack. The front plate is not sufficient enough for a
secure fixing. The amplifier has to be supported addi-
tionally by side rails or a bottom carrier plate.

Connecting the Amplifier
All connections have to be made or changed only if
the amplifier is switched off!
5.1 Input
Connect the output of a preamplifier or a mixer to one
of the jack pairs on the INPUT rear panel [6.3 mm
jack (6), phono jack (7) or XLR (13)]. In bridge opera-
tion connect the left channel (LEFT) only. The bal-
anced inputs XLR or the 6.3 mm jack should be used
preferentially, as a balanced signal transmission
ensures the best noise suppression, especially when
long connecting cables are used. The input signal
should indicate line level.
5.2 Speaker
During stereo operation the amplifier can operate two
speakers or two speaker groups. It can be switched
over to bridge operation to supply the double output
power. Then the amplifier operates as 1 channel
amplifier. However, it supplies 400 W
RMS
to an 8
Ω
speaker or to an 8
Ω
speaker group.
The speaker has to be connected via the Speakon
jacks. Connect the Speakon plug to the correspond-
ing jack (see chapter 5.2.1 or 5.2.2) and turn it to the
right until it locks. For pulling out, move the safety bar
on the plug backwards and turn the plug to the left.
5.2.1 Stereo operation
The highest output power during stereo operation is
achieved by connecting 4
Ω
speakers. However, it is
also possible to connect 8
Ω
speakers whereby the
output power will slightly be reduced. The speakers
must have a power capability of at least:

Use both RIGHT and LEFT jacks (8) on the OUTPUT
rear panel for stereo operation and move the selector
switch (14) on the rear panel of the amplifier to
STEREO position.
Connection examples for several speakers to a
channel are shown in figures 4 – 6. Upon intercon-
necting several speakers, the correct connection of
the plus and minus connections must be ensured.
Furthermore, the total impedance must be at least

5.2.2 Bridge operation
In bridge operation the impedance of a speaker or
the total impedance of a speaker group must be at
least 8
Ω
and the power capability must be at least
400 W
RMS
. For connection use the BRIDGED jack (9)
on the OUTPUT rear panel and move the selector
switch (14) on the rear panel of the amplifier to
BRIDGED position.
Connection examples for several speakers in
bridge operation are shown in figures 4 – 6. Upon
interconnecting several speakers, the correct con-
nection of the plus and minus connections must be
ensured. Furthermore, the total impedance must be
at least 8
Ω
.
5.3 Mains connection
Finally connect the mains plug to a mains socket
(230 V~/ 50 Hz). Turn the LEFT (2) and RIGHT (3)
controls fully counterclockwise to zero before swit-
ching on the amplifier for the first time.

Operation
6.1 Switching on/off
To avoid loud switching noise, always switch on the
amplifier in an audio system as soon as all other units
have been switched on and switch it off as the first
unit after operation. The PROTECT LED (1) lights for
approx. 3 seconds after switching on. During this
time the switch-on delay is activated to protect the
speakers.
The POWER ON LED (4) and, according to the
selected operating mode [by means of the selector
switch (14)], the STEREO or BRIDGED LED (1)
lights if the amplifier is switched on.
6.2 Adjusting the level
In bridge operation turn the RIGHT control (3) fully
counterclockwise to zero and adjust the volume by
means of the LEFT control (2) only. Turn the left con-
trol or, in stereo operation both controls only as far as
possible until the max. desired volume is reached.
The red CLIP LEFT and CLIP RIGHT LEDs (1) dis-
play overloads of the amplifier. Then slightly turn
back the control.
6.3 Groundlift switch
If the installation of the amplifier has caused a ground
loop (e. g. from the amplifier’s housing via the rack to
another unit housing), a humming is generated (e. g.
in soft pieces of music). This ground loop can be
interrupted by means of the groundlift switch (15).
Move the switch to position LIFT. Then humming
should stop.
On the other hand, the amplifier is not shielded
against electrical noise fields if the housing is not
connected to ground. In this case move the groundlift
switch to position GND. In case of doubt turn the
switch alternately to get an optimum adjustment.

Protective Circuit
The protective circuit prevents the speakers and the
amplifier from being damaged. If activated, the spea-
kers are electrically separated from the amplifier and
the red PROTECT LED (1) lights:
1. for approx. 3 seconds after switching on (switch-
ing-on delay)
2. in case of a short-circuit at a speaker output (8 or 9)
3. in case of a DC voltage at a speaker output
