Installation
For assuring the minimum coverage of your home, one smoke alarm device should be installed respectively in
the hallway/on the stairs and in every bedroom, for providing additional protection in the living room and/or rooms
equipped with electrical devices (e.g. TV or computer room).
The range of the radio signal (max. 30 m) depends above all on the constructional conditions of the building.
Each obstacle in the transmission path reduces the range; some materials (e.g. metal, reinforced concrete)
give rise for considerable screening effects. Other radio systems in the immediate vicinity may also lead to
malfunctions. Thus, prior to installing the detectors, check whether a reliable radio link is assured between the
planned mounting positions! Later constructional modifications (e.g. placing of steel cabinets, mounting of internal
dividing walls) may affect the transmission path. For this reason, please check the radio link between the smoke
alarm devices once again after such measures!
If possible, always install the smoke alarm device in the middle of the ceiling. If this is not possible, make sure
to install the smoke alarm device at a minimum distance of 50 cm from the wall and of 60 cm from the corner
of the room (see diagram).
Coding
First, the DIP switch (located in the detectors basic module) of all smoke alarm devices which are to be interlinked
must be adjusted to the same code. With three DIP switches, there are 8
possible combinations (e.g. on/on/off, off/on/off) such that 8 different codes
can be adjusted. In this way, a different code can be selected in case of
possible interferences with other radio systems in immediate vicinity or
several separated smoke alarm device groups can be set up (e.g. one
detector group per accommodation unit in multi-flat homes or terraced houses).
Use a pen or pencil to adjust the requested code.
Important note: Adjust the same code on all detectors to be interlinked! In case of an alarm, only the
detectors belonging to one group are triggered! All wireless smoke alarm devices adjusted to another
code are not activated!
Mounting
Mark the drill holes at the planned mounting position first by using the basic module as drilling jig.
Insert the 4 alkaline batteries (1.5 V, AAA) into the battery compartment of the basic module by observing the
correct polarity (+/- marking) (both LEDs briefly flash). When the green LED flashes (approx. every 35 sec.), the
basic module is operable.
Insert the 9 V block battery into the battery compartment of the smoke alarm device and attach the battery clip
to the battery.
Insert the plug of the connecting cable on the smoke alarm device into
the socket on the basic module.
Turn the smoke alarm device on the basic module, until it locks in. If
the red LED flashes (approx. every 35 sec.), the smoke alarm device
is operable.
Position all prepared radio smoke alarm devices which are to be installed
at the planned mounting positions and check afterwards (see function
test) whether a radio link is given and whether all detectors are triggered.
If required, optimize the detector distribution prior to drilling the necessary
holes for the fixing screws and to mounting the detectors at the ceiling.
