6 Conclusions

This application note describes the design and performance of a dual stage 250 W
microinverter characterized by maximum power point tracking and active and reactive power
control capability. This is the main reason why the power conversion is based on a dual
stage topology rather than the more common single-stage one. The converter performs
MPPT and grid connection by means of an ARM Cortex-M3 based microcontroller
(STM32F103xx), which is well proven to be perfectly suited for PV applications. Simulation
and experimental results have confirmed the consistency of the proposed solution for single-
panel PV generation systems.
