DIMENSIONS/CONSTRUCTION OF THE FOOTERS, POLE/BEAM SIZES, AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS AND
RESTRICTIONS REGARDING THE INSTALLATION OF THE SCOREBOARD.
IMPORTANT: DO NOT MOUNT FLAT TO A WALL. A MINIMUM OF
18” CLEARANCE MUST BE LEFT FOR
ACCESS TO THE REAR OF THE UNIT, AS THE ELECTRONIC MODULE ACCESS AND ALL POWER AND SIGNAL
CABLE ACCESS DOORS ARE LOCATED ON THE BACK OF THE SCOREBOARD. 24” CLEARANCE IS
RECOMMENDED.
ASSEMBLING THE SCOREBOARD
1. Carefully remove each of the two (2) SPD-8 sponsor sections and the seven (7) scoreboard
sections from their packaging, making sure not to pry against or cut into the cabinets. Inspect
each section for shipping damage according to the instructions on page 1.
2. Using lumber (or a substitute) to keep the cabinets several inches off the ground, lay one DSP-
8 sponsor section and cabinets A, B, and C face up with the one (1) DSP-8 sponsor section on
the left and cabinet “C” on the right. Align the cabinets so that they are flush across the top and
bottom and the edges of the cabinets are touching. Each ca
binet is lettered “A” through “G” on
the back.
3. Using two of the 18
’ mounting angle irons as well as the supplied 3/8-16 X 1-1/4” bolts, 3/8” flat
washers, and 3/8 hex nuts, join the three sections by bolting the two 18
’ angle irons across the
three cabinets, one on top and the other on bottom. With the angle irons resting against the
back flange, the bolts should pass through a washer, the angle iron, and the cabinet’s back
flange. The nut should be installed on the backside of the cabinet’s back flange. Joining these
four sections using the 18
’ mounting angle irons will leave two feet of each angle iron extending
beyond the end of cabinet D. (See illustration below)
4. Repeat step 3 to join the second DSP-8 sponsor section and sections D, E, F and G. Joining
these five (5) sections using the 18
’ mounting angle irons will leave two feet of section D
extending beyond the end of the mounting angle irons. (See illustration below)
Attach a lift device to the top angle iron of the left section and stand the section upright.
