INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE
Donning the hood and use
•
Tear open the sealed bag to remove the hood by opening the pouch (Fig. 1).
•
Slip the hood over the head whilst holding the filter in one hand in order to position the interior mask.
•
The elastic strap allows the interior mask to fit automatically into place (Fig. 2)
•
Leave the contaminated area as quickly as possible, without hurrying and breathing normally. (Fig. 3)
Storage
•
Maximum storage time is 12 years, if kept in its original, undamaged packaging.
When this period expires, it is necessary to have the hood reconditioned by the SPERIAN After Sales
department or by another approved organisation.
•
Do not store at temperatures below -20°C or above +50°C or in an atmosphere with a rate of relative h umidity
of more than 90 %.
•
Store the hood away from direct sunlight and dust in the original packaging or in a sealed pack.
Warning
•
Before entering a risk area, check that the pouch is undamaged: tears, seal.
•
Check that there are no hairs stuck between the interior mask and the face. The seal will also
be affected by a beard, moustache or the arms of a pair of spectacles.
•
Breathe slowly and regularly.
•
Do not remove the hood before leaving the contaminated area.
•
When removing the hood, take all necessary precautions to avoid inhaling any dust or
contaminating elements that may have been deposited on the external surface of the hood.
•
After use, it is essential that the filter be replaced and the hood re-packed in a sealed welded
bag.
•
If the seal is not complete, do not use the hood. See the maintenance instructions.
•
Never alter or modify the hood.
Cleaning instructions
•
Remove the used filter.
•
Wash the hood in lukewarm soapy water or in an ultrasound tank with the EPI-US product – Ref.: 1779065 in a
3% aqueous solution (see the maintenance leaflet for more details). Do not use organics solvents or abrasive
products to clean the hood.
•
Rinse very thoroughly under running water, then place in a dry, well-ventilated place to dry.
•
Fit a new filter and re-pack the hood in a sealed welded bag.

Check that the equipment is complete and that there is no deterioration. If any part is damaged or missing,
contact the supplier immediately. On no account must a damaged or incomplete hood be used.
MAINTENANCE INSTRUCTIONS
Only persons who have undergone SPERIAN training are authorized to carry out the operations below.
If such a person is not available, contact the SPERIAN After Sales Service.
Filter
- Open the collar using a screwdriver.
- Remove the filter from the half-mask.
- Insert a new filter in the housing provided, pushing it in as far as it will go.
- Use pliers to tighten a new collar.
Interior mask
- Cut the collar (Item 2) using cutting pliers.
- Remove the interior mask from its housing.
- Insert the new interior mask taking care to ensure it is the right way round.
- Put a new collar (Item 2) through the 2 loops and the hood.
- Use pliers to tighten the collar around the skirt of the interior mask (Item 1).
Inhalation and exhalation valves
- Remove the used valves.
- Insert the new valves taking care to ensure that they are positioned correctly.
