This function allows the user to locate the path of the cable
behind walls and hidden locations.
1. Set the
TONE/CONT
switch to the
TONE
position.
2. Connect the red test lead to the one of the wires of the cable
being traced. If the cable is shielded, connect the red test lead
to the shield. Note that connecting both test leads to the same
cable will reduce the radiated signal.
3. Turn the tone generator on by pressing the Tone Button once
for a continuous tone and twice for a pulse tone.
4. Move the amplifier probe towards the suspected path of the
cable. The tone will be progressively louder as the probe gets
closer to the cable the tone is being sent through.

NOTE:
Use caution when tracing installed cables. The tone generator may
cause interference with signals on adjacent conductors.
WARNING:
Never connect to AC voltage. Do not connect to DC voltage
in excess of 60 volts. Do not touch the metal test lead tips when making a
connection. Never allow the amplifier probe to contact voltage sources,
such as wiring to an electrical outlet.
