TROUBLESHOOTING

Machine does not
start or power
supply breaker
trips immediately
after startup.
1.
E-Stop button depressed/at fault.
1.
Rotate E-Stop button head to reset. Replace if at
fault.
2.
Incorrect power supply voltage or
circuit size.
2.
Ensure correct power supply voltage and circuit
size.
3.
Power supply circuit breaker
tripped or fuse blown.
3.
Ensure circuit is free of shorts. Reset circuit breaker
or replace fuse.
4.
Motor wires connected incorrectly.
4.
Correct motor wiring connections.
5.
Thermal overload relay has tripped/
at fault.
5.
Reset. Adjust or replace if at fault.
6.
Start capacitor at fault.
6.
Test/replace if at fault.
7.
Contactor not energized/at fault.
7.
Test all legs for power; replace if necessary.
8.
Wiring broken, disconnected, or
corroded.
8.
Fix broken wires or disconnected/corroded
connections.
9.
Centrifugal switch adjustment/
contact points at fault.
9.
Adjust centrifugal switch/clean contact points.
Replace either if at fault.
10.
ON button at fault.

Replace button.
11.
Motor or motor bearings at fault.

Replace motor.
Machine has
vibration or noisy
operation.

Motor or component loose.

Replace damaged or missing bolts/nuts or tighten if
loose.

Stand feet not adjusted properly.

Adjust stand feet to stabilize machine.

Drive wheel cap screw is missing or
loose.

Inspect keys and set screws. Replace or tighten if
necessary.

Motor fan rubbing on fan cover.

Fix/replace fan cover; replace loose/damaged fan.

Centrifugal switch at fault.

Adjust/replace if at fault.
6.
Motor bearings at fault.
6.
Test by rotating shaft; rotational grinding/loose
shaft requires bearing replacement.

Move machine closer to power supply; use shorter
extension cord.

Sanding belt
slaps or vibrates
excessively.

Incorrect sanding belt tension.

Make sure tension lever is engaged (Page 24).
