TROUBLESHOOTING

Machine does not
start or power
supply breaker
trips immediately
after startup.

E-Stop button depressed/at fault.

Rotate E-Stop button head to reset. Replace if at
fault.

Incorrect power supply voltage or
circuit size.

Ensure correct power supply voltage and circuit
size.

Power supply circuit breaker
tripped or fuse blown.

Ensure circuit is free of shorts. Reset circuit breaker
or replace fuse.

Motor wires connected incorrectly.

Correct motor wiring connections.

Thermal overload relay has tripped/
at fault.

Reset. Adjust or replace if at fault.

Start capacitor at fault.

Test/replace if at fault.

Contactor not energized/at fault.

Test all legs for power; replace if necessary.

Wiring broken, disconnected, or
corroded.

Fix broken wires or disconnected/corroded
connections.

Centrifugal switch adjustment/
contact points at fault.

Adjust centrifugal switch/clean contact points.
Replace either if at fault.

vibration or noisy

Replace damaged or missing bolts/nuts or tighten if

Stand feet not adjusted properly.

Drive wheel cap screw is missing or

Inspect keys and set screws. Replace or tighten if
necessary.

Motor fan rubbing on fan cover.

Fix/replace fan cover; replace loose/damaged fan.

Centrifugal switch at fault.

Adjust/replace if at fault.

Motor bearings at fault.

Test by rotating shaft; rotational grinding/loose
shaft requires bearing replacement.

Only sand wood/ensure moisture is below 20%

Motor wires connected incorrectly.

Correct motor wiring connections.

Machine undersized for task.

Clean (Page 32)/replace sandpaper (Page 24);
reduce feed rate/sanding depth.

Motor overheated.

Clean motor, let cool, and reduce workload.

Run capacitor at fault.

Test/repair/replace.

Extension cord too long.

Move machine closer to power supply; use shorter
extension cord.

Contactor not energized/at fault.

Test all legs for power; repair/replace if necessary.

Centrifugal switch/contact points
at fault.

Adjust centrifugal switch/clean contact points.
Replace either if at fault.

Motor or motor bearings at fault.

Replace motor.

Sanding belt
slaps or vibrates
excessively.

Incorrect sanding belt tension.

Make sure tension lever is engaged (Page 24).

Belt tracking needs adjustment.

Adjust sanding belt tracking (Page 26).

Broken/defective sanding belt.

Replace sanding belt (Page 24).

Idler wheel is too loose.

Tighten idler roller.

Weak or broken tension spring.

Replace spring.
