Troubleshooting
If you run into any problems using your
camcorder, use the following table to
troubleshoot the problem. If the problem
persists, disconnect the power source and
contact your Sony dealer.

The power does not turn on.
• Attach a charged battery pack to the
camcorder (p. 15).
• Use the AC Adaptor to connect to a wall
outlet (wall socket) (p. 15).
The camcorder does not operate
even when the power is set to on.
• Disconnect the AC Adaptor from the wall
outlet (wall socket) or remove the battery
pack, then reconnect it after about 1 minute.
• Press the RESET button using a sharp-
pointed object (If you press the RESET
button, all settings are reset, except
Personal Menu items).
The camcorder gets warm.
• The camcorder may get warmer while you
use it. This is not a malfunction.
The power abruptly turns off.
• Charge the battery pack (p. 15).
The CHG (charge) lamp does not
light while the battery pack is being
charged.
• Slide the POWER switch to OFF (CHG)
• Attach the battery pack to the camcorder
correctly (p. 15).
• Connect the power cord (mains lead) to the
wall outlet (wall socket) properly.
• The battery charge is completed (p. 15).
The CHG (charge) lamp flashes while
the battery pack is being charged.
• Attach the battery pack to the camcorder
correctly (p. 15). If the problem persists,
disconnect the AC Adaptor from the wall
outlet (wall socket) and contact your Sony
dealer. The battery pack may be damaged.
The remaining battery time indicator
does not indicate the correct time.
• Ambient temperature is too high or too low,
or the battery pack has not been charged
enough. This is not a malfunction.
• Fully charge the battery again. If the
problem persists, the battery may be worn-
out. Replace it with a new one (p. 15, 92).
• The indicated time may not be correct in
certain circumstances. For example, when
you open or close the LCD panel, it takes
about 1 minute to display the correct
remaining battery time.
The battery pack discharges too
quickly.
• Ambient temperature is too high or low, or
the battery pack has not been charged
enough. This is not a malfunction.
• Fully charge the battery again. If the
problem persists, the battery may be worn-
out. Replace it with a new one (p. 15, 92).
