6.4.3 Connecting the Modbus cable

Communication lines too long

Ensure that the Modbus line and Ethernet line connected to the storage
system do not exceed a maximum length of
150 m .
• Measurement data is transmitted from the power meter to the storage system using the
Modbus line.
• The Modbus line is connected to the power meter and the central unit of the storage
system.
It is essential to ensure that a screened patch cable is used and that the screen
of the Modbus line is earthed in order to ensure optimal data transmission.

Use a patch cable with the following properties as the Modbus cable:
• The patch cable is Cat 6.
• The patch cable is shielded.

Earth the screen of the Modbus line for the power meter

Connect the patch cable to the central unit of the storage system ( MOD [Meter] ).

Use the fixing ties from the accessories set to affix the attached cable to the power
module.
„
Connect the other end of the patch cable to the power meter as shown in the figure.
If there is no jumper on the Modbus terminal strip between pins 6 and 8:
„
Install a jumper between pins 6 and 8 on the Modbus terminal strip.

Install the supplied screen clamp for this purpose as described in the provided instructions.
