If  you  only  want  to  perform  a  BERT  test  of  fiber  cables,  it  is  not  necessary  to  set  a 

reference. If you want to test Loss & Length, you have to set a reference first. Follow the 
instructions on the main unit, which are in the form of GIF's and explain the procedure.  

Each time the test setup changes, it is necessary to set a new reference. When new SFPs
