SETUP INSTRUCTIONS AND PRE-OPERATION CHECKLIST FOR
TURF CRUISER™ / TRAIL CRUISER™ UTILITY VEHICLES
INTRODUCTION: These instructions cover the setup of the Turf Cruiser™/Trail Cruiser™ utility vehicle.
Complete each step carefully. A checklist has been provided at the back of this instruction sheet. It is very
important to verify and record each item on the list prior to placing the machine into service.
The dry weight of the machine you are about to set up is approximately 1000 lbs. Therefore, it is strongly
recommended that an overhead hoist be used when lifting the machine. The capacity of the lifting device must
exceed the weight of the machine. DO NOT work on the machine until it is properly blocked and secured to
prevent it from falling. If an overhead hoist is not available, you may have to remove boards from the crate
bottom to gain access with floor-type jacks.
WARNING
DO NOT attempt to operate this machine in any way
until all assembly steps have been completed and
all adjustments have been made. Serious injury
and/or equipment damage may result.
STEP 1
INSTALL REAR TIRES
IMPORTANT NOTE: FRONT AND REAR TIRES ARE
DIFFERENT SIZES. IDENTIFY THE
LARGER
SET OF
TIRES FOR USE ON THE REAR OF THE MACHINE.
1.
Loosen (
do not remove
) the two lug nuts securing
each support plate to the left and right rear wheel
hubs. See Figure 1.1.
FIGURE 1.1
2.
Remove the hardware securing left and right rear
support plates to the crate bottom. (NOTE:
hardware must be removed
before
lifting the rear of
the machine, to eliminate extra weight, as well as to
prevent crate bottom from dropping during
hardware removal and possibly causing injury.)
3.
Lift machine, at the rear hitch, only high enough to
allow tire installation. (REMINDER: The device
used to lift the machine must have a lifting capacity
greater than 1000 lb.) Block rear of machine
securely to prevent it from falling.
4.
Remove lug nuts loosened in operation #1 of this
assembly step, then remove and discard support
plates. Set lug nuts aside for future assembly
operation.
5.
Check each wheel hub to insure that the
appropriate washer(s) and castle nut is installed.
Also, be sure that the cotter pin locking the castle
nut in place has been inserted through the spindle,
and has at least one leg bent back across the
spindle to secure nut in place.
6.
Install left and right rear tires (valve stems facing
outward), securing each with 5 lug nuts (including
lug nuts removed in previous operation). NOTE for
Trail Cruisers only: Tires are directional. Install with
points of the chevron treads pointing forward. See
Figure 1.2.

7.
Remove blocks and lower rear of machine.
8.
Torque lug nuts to 75 ft-lbs using sequence shown
in Figure 1.2.
