Step 7:
With the quill still locked, move the coarse feed handle and check for a
reduction in backlash.
Step 8:
Bend the locking tab back into one of the slots in the spanner nut.
Adjusting Drive Belt Tension
Adjust the belt tension before using your machine and recheck it periodically.
Adjusting Millhead Belt Tension
Step 1:
Remove the millhead cover.
Step 2:
Position the roller to the outside of the belt.
Step 3:
Loosen the shaft with a wrench on the two flats at the
top of the shaft.
Step 4:
Position the roller against the flat side of the belt and
apply light thumb pressure to tension the belt.
Step 5:
Tighten the roller shaft.
Adjusting Lathe Belt Tension
The lathe-belt tensioner is made up of a Quick Release Handle and the Tension
Adjustment Knobs. Raise the Quick Release Handle to apply tension and down to release
tension. Proper setting of the tension follows:
Step 1:
Raise Quick Release Tension handle all the way up
Step 2:
Adjust the tension by turning the knurled knob clockwise to increase tension or
counter clockwise to loosen tension. Once the belt tension is adjusted the Quick Release
Handle can be used to release and apply tension for positioning belts.
