Upgrading Firmware

The system firmware for the SMC6948L2 is upgradable. If product
enhancements or bug fixes occur, the new firmware will be
available from SMC’s web site at:

http://www.smc.com.

There are three ways to upgrade the firmware:

•

Using a Web browser you can perform a Web upload (see
“Web Upload Management” on page 3-16) or a TFTP download
(see “TFTP Download Management” on page 3-17).

•

Using the menu-driven system configuration program (via a
console connection or Telnet), you can perform a TFTP
download (see “Using TFTP to Download Over the Network”
on page 2-22).

•

You can also upgrade system firmware using a direct
connection to the serial port after a system reset
(see “Upgrading Firmware via the Serial Port” on page A-2).
