Remotely Locating the Control Panel
If the current location of the control panel doesn’t suit your design, you can remove it from the
X-Port 30 unit, and then mount it elsewhere.
To move the control panel to another location, you must complete all three of the following
procedures:
•
removing the control panel from the X-Port 30 unit (this page)
•
connecting the grounding wire (page 20)
•
reconnecting the control panel (page 21)
This new location, which can be up to 3'
(91 cm)
away from the X-Port 30 unit, must allow for
clear access to the control panel buttons. You can use the control panel cover plate (supplied)
to cover the opening in the X-Port 30 unit.
When you relocate the control panel, you’ll need to properly ground it (see page 20) using the
supplied grounding wire, and then you must connect it to the connection panel with the
supplied I
2
C cable. The ground wire prevents static electricity from damaging the relocated
control panel or the X-Port 30 unit.
Before you begin any of these procedures, be sure that the power cable for the X-Port 30 unit
is disconnected.
To remove the control panel from the X-Port 30
1
Remove the control panel from the front plate using the hex key to unscrew the two
screws that hold it in place.
