BURNERS FAIL TO OPERATE
CAUSE
REMEDY
1. Gas supply valve shut off 1. Open gas valve
2. No power, main electric switch open 2. Close switch
3. No power, blown or defective line fuse 3. Replace fuse
4. Pilot flame too low 4. Adjust pilot flame
5. Ignition system control switch is on “OFF” position 5. Move switch to “ON” position
6. Harnesses plug-in connectors are not 6. Check connectors
securely connected
7. HSI element damaged or broken (does not glow red) 7. Replace element
8. Flame sensor contaminated 8. Clean sensor
9. Roll-out switch open 9. Replace roll-out switch (inspect flue passages prior to
replacement)
10. Defective air flow switch, restriction or obstruction in 10. Check air flow switch hose connections. Check for obstruc tion
venting system (motor run for 30 seconds) or restriction in venting system. Replace defective switch.
11. Defective blower motor 11. Check voltage (120V) at motor connector. Replace
defective motor.
12. Defective transformer 12. Remove connector marked C, R on Aquastat. Check
transformer connector terminals for 24V. Replace
defective transformer.
13. Defective Smart Valve 13. Set thermostat and Aquastat to call heat. Remove connector
marked B2, B1, R on Aquastat. Check terminal B2, B1 for 24V.
Follow Smart Valve system troubleshooting in Smart Valve
(Honeywell) Instruction Manual to find out if Smar t Valve must
be replaced.
14. Defective electronic Aquastat 14. Set thermostat and Aquastat to call heat. Remove connector
marked B2, B1, R. Check voltage at B1, B2 (24V nominal).
Remove thermostat connections from T or TV terminal. No
voltage between B1 and B2. If Aquastat fails above tests,
replace Aquastat.
BURNERS WILL NOT SHUT-OFF
CAUSE
REMEDY
1. Defective Aquastat 1. Test Aquastat as 14 on page 25, replace def ective Aquastat.
2. Aquastat sensor is not properly inside Aquastat well. 2. Insert the senser into the well. Make sure the sensor fits
securely against the bottom of the well. Secure sensor and
lead wire with mounting clamp.
FLASH BACK-BURNING AT ORIFICES
CAUSE
REMEDY
1. Manifold gas pressure too low 1. Adjust to proper manifold pressure
2. Improper primary air adjustment 2. Adjust air to produce soft, clean flame
3. Gas regulator bleed too slow 3. Adjust bleed opening
4. Burrs on orifices 4. Remove burrs
5. Improper orifice 5. Install proper orifice size
6. Adverse draft condition in boiler room 6. Check air supply and venting system
7. Low main gas pressure 7. Contact utility
