On the Notification (Traps) tab:

Destination: Name or IP address of the notification receiver traps server
o
Traps User: SNMP community of the notification receiver traps server
4. Click Save SNMP Configuration to save the configuration and update the service with the
new configuration.
SNMP v3 Configuration
To use Skybox Appliance as an SNMP v3 Server
1. On the System tab, click SNMP.
2. Select Enable SNMP Service.
3. Select Enable SNMP v3.
4. Set the following values in the tabs in the SNMP Service section:

On the General tab:
o
Listening Port: 161
o
Sending Port: 162
o
System Location: Physical location of your Skybox Appliance
o
Contact Details: Email address of the administrator

On the Security tab, under SNMP v3 settings, create users for Read-Only Credentials
and Read-write credentials
For each credential, set the following values:
o
Username : A character string value
o
Password: A string at least 8 character long (can be left blank)
o
Hashing Algorithm: We recommend that you select MD5 (default)
o
Encryption Algorithm: We recommend that you select DES (default)

On the Notification (Traps) tab:
o
Destination: Name or IP address in the network
o
Traps User: Automatically set to the Read-Only Username
5. Click Save SNMP Configuration to save the configuration and update the service with the
new configuration.
Note: SNMP v3 requires an SNMP agent to define a unique engine ID to respond to SNMP v3
requests. This ID is generated automatically, using a combination of a pseudorandom number
and the current time in seconds.
This generated value is then stored in /var/lib/net-snmp/snmpd.conf in hexadecimal format,
identified as oldEngineID.
