Safety instructions for the use of your reciprocating saw
•
Wear ear protection.
•
Wear a dust mask.
•
Wear protective goggles.
•
Only sharp blades that are suitable for the saw and in good condition may
be used.
Replace damaged blades immediately and never attempt to fit blades or
other accessories that are not suitable for the saw.
•
Check the workpiece carefully for nails, screws or other foreign objects and
remove these before starting to saw.
•
Powerful forces can be exerted on the saw if the saw blade becomes
jammed or twisted in the cut.
Adopt a stable posture and hold the saw firmly.
•
Stand in such a way that you cannot be injured at cut breakthrough or in the
event that the saw blade breaks or the workpiece slips.
•
Saw blades become extremely hot while sawing.
To prevent the risk of burns
never touch a hot saw blade and ensure that you put the saw blade down in a safe
place after you finish work.
•
Contact with the moving saw blade can cause serious injury.
Keep your
hands well away from the moving saw blade at all times and never reach
underneath the workpiece during a cut.
•
To prevent the risk of ‘kickback’ or saw blade breakage and consequent
damage or injury:
- Ensure that the shoe is firmly in contact with the workpiece at all times.
- Once you finish a cut, allow the saw blade to come to a complete stop before
you withdraw it from the workpiece.
•
Be aware that contact with hidden wiring, pipes or conduits underneath your
workpiece could lead to damage, fire, electric shock or explosion.
Check the
area carefully with a detector before starting work. Hold the saw by its insulated
handles. Take particular care when making plunge cuts into walls. If you have any
doubt contact an electrician or engineer.
