the EPROM closest to the rear of the EQ 55. When replacing the chip with the
new EPROM, it is very important that the replacement have the notch facing the
same direction.
7.5.3 Removing the EPROM.
The EPROM is pressed into a socket on the circuit board. It is not necessary to do
any soldering to replace the EPROM.
Using a chip extractor or a small, flat blade screwdriver, pry gently under the ends
of the EPROM, between the EPROM and the end of the plastic socket underneath.
Working gently from one end and then the other, lift the chip out of the socket.
7.5.4 Replacing the EPROM.
Remove the replacement EPROM from the static protection tube. Noting the
placement of the notch at the end of the chip, and placing this end of the EPROM
closest to the rear of the EQ 55. Carefully line up the pins with the socket holes.
Gently press the EPROM into the socket.
7.6
EQ 55 ASSEMBLY INSTRUCTIONS
7.6.1 Replacing the CPU PCB Assembly
Replacing the CPU PCB is the reverse of the removal process. It helps to arrange
the connectors before placing the PCB, so that the connectors may be accessed
easily after the PCB is in place. Use care to ensure that the connectors are mated
correctly with their respective receptacles.
7.6.2 Removing the DC Power Supply PCB Assembly
The Power Supply printed circuit board assembly is mounted in the EQ 55
drawer. If it is necessary to remove the power supply PCB, begin by disconnecting
the connectors around the periphery of the PCB. Use care that the connectors and
PCB are not damaged in the process of disconnecting. Once the connectors are
free, remove the 5 nuts holding the board in place. Also remove the 2 Phillips
screws connecting the metal chassis to the heatsink of the DC power supply.
