Note
: Releasing the ON/OFF Switch (10) whilst in position ‘II’ will automatically turn ‘OFF’ the tool
and the ON/OFF Switch (10) will return to the ‘OFF’ position (Image A)
11. Repeat the process with knife inserted into Guide Slot D (Image G)
12. Carry out 5 strokes of the knife per side to make the knife sharp
Note
: Optional: the knife edge can now be honed using Belt P1200 (24) or P2500 (25) (5 strokes
per side) for sharper results
Note
: Once sharp when re-sharpening use Belt P600 (23), (1-2 strokes per side) then Belt P1200 or
Belt P2500 (5 strokes per side)
Serrated Knives:
Note
: Serrated knives have a flat side and a bevelled side on the blade, sharpen ONLY the flat side
with the multi-functional sharpener (Image H)
1. Disconnect tool from Charger (26)
2. Install Belt P1200 (24) or Belt P2500 (25)
3. Select the ‘sharpening A’ position on the Sharpening Cassette (3) (Image B)
4. Place the tool on a secure, flat surface with Rubber Feet (16) in contact with surface to prevent
slipping whilst using
5. Attach the Multi Blade Sharpening Guide (27) to the Sharpening Cassette (3)
(Fig. V) (Fig. VI)
6. Place the flat side of the blade against the Serrated Knife Guide (19) at the handle (Image I)
7. With the knife on the guide (27) hold the Handle (1) firmly with one hand and press and hold
the ON/OFF Switch (10) in the ‘II’ position to start the tool (Image A)
8. Pull the knife steadily across the Belt (5) in constant contact with the Belt (5) from knife handle to
tip (Image I)
Note
: an 8” serrated blade should take approx. 2 seconds per stroke
Note
: only place serrated blades on the downwards rotation of the Belt (5), failure to do so will risk
cutting the Belt (5) and possible injury
9. Repeat for 2 to 3 strokes
Knives with Partial Serration:

1. Follow the instructions for smooth edged knives on the standard part of the blade using the
Multi Blade Sharpening Guide (27)

2. Follow the instructions for serrated knives on the serrated part of the blade using the Multi Blade
Sharpening Guide (27)
Hunting Knives with Gut Hook and Blades with Deep Concave Curves:
1. Follow the instructions for smooth-edged knives on the standard part of the blade using the
Multi Blade Sharpening Guide (27)
2. Place the tool on a secure, flat surface with Rubber Feet (16) in contact with surface to prevent
slipping whilst using
3. To sharpen the gut hook remove the Knife Guide (27) and install Belt P1200 (24) or Belt P2500
(25) (Fig. VII)
4. Place the curve of the gut hook over the belt (5) on the downwards rotation side and allow the
belt (5) to conform to the curve of the blade (Image L)
5. With the knife in position hold the Handle (1) firmly with one hand and press and hold the ON/
OFF Switch (10) in the ‘II’ position to start the tool (Image A)
6. Sharpen hook for 2-4 seconds
7. Repeat on the reverse side of the gut hook (Image L)
Note
: ONLY sharpen the gut hook on the downwards rotation of the Belt (5), failure to do so will
result in cutting of the Belt (5) and possible injury
Single Bevel Knives / Filet Knives:
1. Follow instructions for smooth-edged knives on the bevelled side of the blade using the Multi
Blade Sharpening Guide (27) and Belt P600 (23). Continue until a slight burr develops on the
flat side (usually 5 strokes.)
2. Install Belt P1200 (24) or P2500 (25) and the Multi Blade Sharpening Guide (27).
3. Place the tool on a secure, flat surface with Rubber Feet (16) in contact with surface to prevent
slipping whilst using
4. With the knife in position hold the Handle (1) firmly with one hand and press and hold the ON/
OFF Switch (10) in the ‘II’ position to start the tool (Image A) and hone the bevelled side of the
blade
5. Hone flat side of the blade using the Serrated Knife Sharpening Guide (19) on the Multi Blade
Sharpening Guide (27)
Note
: it may be necessary to repeat this process of sharpening and honing to achieve the sharpest
results with no burr
Sharpening scissors
Note
: Sharpen only the bevelled side of your scissors. Marking the bevelled side with a black
marker will make it easier to see when the cutting edge has been sharpened.
1. Install Belt P600 (23) and the Multi Blade Sharpening Guide (27) (see ‘Fitting a Sharpening
Guide’).
2. Place the tool on a secure, flat surface with Rubber Feet (16) in contact with surface to prevent
slipping whilst using
3. Hold the scissors as shown to keep the blades open during sharpening (Image M)
4. Insert scissors into Scissor Guide (18) up to the hinge on the scissors(Image M)
5. With the scissors in position hold the Handle (1) firmly with one hand and press and hold the 0
ON/OFF Switch (10) in the ‘II’ position to start the tool (Image A)
6. Pull the scissors steadily through the Guide (27) along the full length of the blade keeping the
Belt (5) in constant contact with the blade
7. Repeat step 6 about 5 times or until the black marker has been removed from the cutting edge
8. Repeat steps 2-7 on the other scissors cutting blade
9. Test scissors and repeat as required
Sharpening tools
Shovels, Hoes, Axes, Pick Axes, Post-Hole Diggers and other Edged Tools:
Note
: this method is for tools that do not require sharpening to a precise angle
1. Disconnect tool from Charger (26) and remove any Sharpening Guide (19) (27)
2. Install Belt P180 (21) or Belt P320 (22)
3. Select the ‘Grinding B’ position on the Sharpening Cassette (3) (Image B)
4. Clamp the tool to be sharpened securely in a vice (Image N)
5. Hold the multifunctional sharpener securely by the Handle (1)
6. Switch the ON/OFF Switch (10) to the ‘I’ ON constant, grinding position (Image A)
7. Grind the edge of the tool until satisfied with the sharpness (Image O)
Pruners, Shears and other Bypass Cutting Tools:
Note
: These tools usually only have one sharp, bevelled blade that requires sharpening. This blade
does not require sharpening to a precise angle
1. Disconnect tool from Charger (26) and remove any Sharpening Guide (19) (27)
2. Install Belt P600 (23)
3. Select the ‘Grinding B’ position on the Sharpening Cassette (3) (Image B)
4. Clamp the tool to be sharpened securely in a vice (Image P)
Note
: Some tools may require the none sharpened jaw of the tool to pass inside the abrasive belt to
allow access to the cutting blade (Image P)
5. Hold the multifunctional sharpener securely by the Handle (1)
6. Switch the ON/OFF Switch (10) to the ‘I’ ON constant, grinding position (Image A)
7. Grind the edge of the tool until satisfied with the sharpness (Image P)
Lawnmower Blades, Straight and Curved (Mulching) Blades:
NOTE
: Lawnmower blades do not require sharpening to a precise angle; just let the belt conform to
the shape of the blade edge, whether straight or curved.
1. Disconnect tool from Charger (26) and remove any Sharpening Guide (19) (27)
2. Install Belt P180 (21) or P320 (22)
3. Select the ‘Grinding B’ position on the Sharpening Cassette (3) (Image B)
4. Remove the blade from its machine and clamp the blade securely in a vice (Image O)
5. Hold the multifunctional sharpener securely by the Handle (1)
6. Switch the ON/OFF Switch (10) to the ‘I’ ON constant, grinding position (Image A)
7. Grind the edge of the tool until satisfied with the sharpness (Image O)
8. Unclamp and repeat the process for the blade on the reverse side
9. Sharpen blade to manufacturers specification and reattach to machine following manufacturers'
instructions
