Drill Driver 14.4V

264568

3. If the red LED doesn’t illuminate, recheck the battery is correctly

inserted in the charger. Remove any material that may have fallen
into the battery socket of the charger and make sure the contacts of
both the battery and the charger are clean, untarnished metal and not
damaged or bent. If the red LED still doesn’t illuminate there may be a
fault with the battery

WARNING:

The LED does not show the charge status of the battery, and the

charger does not switch itself off once the battery is fully charged.

4. Remove the battery from the charger after 3 – 5 hours and disconnect

the charger from the power supply

WARNING:

Overcharging the battery may reduce its capacity and shorten

its life. Excessive overcharging may destroy the battery and/or charger.

Further notes about battery charging:

•  Except for the initial charge, the battery should be fully discharged before

recharging to maximise lifespan of the battery

•  The battery should be charged at ambient temperatures between 10 and

40°C (ideally close to 20°C)

•  After charging, allow 15 minutes for the battery to cool before use
•  Ensure that the charger is disconnected from the mains supply, and is

stored correctly

•  DO NOT leave batteries on charge for extended periods and NEVER store

batteries on charge

•  Charge batteries close to when they will be used, ideally the previous day

or the same day

•  Batteries can become faulty over time, individual cells in the battery

can fail and the battery could short. The charger will not charge such
batteries. Use the other battery to check correct functionality of the
charger and purchase a replacement battery

•  The capacity of batteries will reduce over time. After 100 charge cycles

the length of time the battery will operate the tool and the maximum
torque performance of the drill will slightly reduce. This decline will
continue until the battery has minimal capacity after 500 charge cycles.
This is normal and not a fault with the battery pack

Installing a charged battery

1. To fit a charged battery to the drill, slide it in to the housing at the base

of the drill

2. Push the battery until it locks into place securely

Note:

The Battery will fit only in one direction, which is determined by its

shape and the design of the battery housing. However, if the battery does
not slide into the housing easily, don’t force it. Instead, pull the battery out
of the housing again, check for correct position, and try again gently. Check
the contacts of the battery and at the base of the drill to make sure they are
not damaged or bent.

Fitting drill bits and accessories

WARNING:

Always remove the battery from the drill before attaching,

adjusting or removing accessories.

WARNING:

Do not attempt to tighten drill bits (or any other accessory) by

gripping the front part of the chuck and switching the tool on. This can lead
to personal injury and can cause damage to the chuck.

WARNING:

Never fit any attachment with a maximum speed lower than the

no load speed of the machine.

1. Open the Chuck (1) jaws by rotating the chuck anti-clockwise (with the

chuck facing the operator)

2. Place the drill bit or accessory into the chuck correctly centralised
3. Tighten the Chuck jaws by rotating the chuck clockwise
4. When the drill bit or accessory is securely fastened, carefully run the

machine to test that it is running centrally, smoothly and evenly. If the
bit is 'wobbling' or not running centrally, release the chuck, check the
accessory for damage, correct its position, retighten and test again

Operation

Direction control

IMPORTANT:

Do not attempt to move the forward/reverse selector when

the drill is running.
•  The direction of rotation can be set using the Forward/Reverse Switch (3)
•  For anti-clockwise rotation, holding the drill in a normal operating

position, push the switch to the right

•  For clockwise rotation, push the switch to the left

Note:

When the forward/reverse switch is in the central position, the drill

is locked and cannot be switched on. Use this setting as a safety feature to
prevent the drill from being switched on accidentally.

Torque control and mode selection

•  This drill is fitted with a Torque Selector (2). This controls the torque

output of the drill, enabling screws to be driven without the risk of
damage to the screw head or workpiece if set correctly. A clutch within
the tool will slip once the maximum torque is reached. There are 16
torque settings and a drill mode

•  The higher the torque setting chosen the higher the amount of torque

available. Select the correct setting for the screw size you are driving.
Over time you will get to know the required setting for the type and size
of screw

•  The Torque Selector is numbered and has in between settings between

the numbers represented with dots to give the full 16 settings

•  Rotate the Torque Selector ring to select the correct torque
•  For drill mode, rotate the Torque Selector to the drill symbol. This will lock

the clutch out for maximum torque

Switching on

WARNING:

Always wear adequate personal protection equipment when

setting up and operating this power tool.

1. To start the drill, squeeze the Trigger (6)

Note:

If the Trigger cannot be pressed down, check that the Forward/

Reverse Switch (3) is not set to its middle position, which locks the device
(see “Direction control”).

2. The speed of the drill is controlled by the movement of the trigger: the

further the Trigger switch is pressed down, the faster the drill will run

3. Release the Trigger to stop the machine

Note:

A built in work light will operate each time the trigger is pressed to

illuminate the work area.

Screwdriver use

Note:

Use a universal bit holder when working with screwdriver bits. Only

mount screwdriver bits directly into the chuck if it is essential to access a
screw head. Use a bit holder at all other times.
•  When driving screws NEVER use the machine in drill mode. This will

protect the motor by causing the clutch to slip rather than the motor to
stall when the screw is fully inserted in the workpiece and cannot rotate
any further

•  Always adjust the drill to the appropriate torque setting (see “Torque

control”)

Note:

If in doubt which torque setting best suits the application, start with a

low setting and increase, should more torque be required (e.g. if the screw
is not being driven far enough into the workpiece).

Drilling wood

•  Select drill mode with the Torque Selector (2)
•  Ensure that drill bits are suitable for wood, and are within the maximum

capacity of this machine (see “Specifications”)

WARNING:

DO NOT inhale wood dust. Wear adequate breathing protection.

Some wood dusts may be toxic.
