Power Fail LED
The power fail LED indicates a power supply module has failed as shown in
Figure 3-4
. The
second power supply module will take the load and keep the system running but the failed module
will need to be replaced. Refer to Chapter 6 for details on replacing the power supply. This LED
should be off when the system is operating normally.

Overheat/Fan Fail/UID LED
When the red overheat/fan/UID LED flashes (shown in
Figure 3-5
), it indicates a fan failure.
When on continuously it indicates an overheat condition, which may be caused by cables
obstructing the airflow in the system or the ambient room temperature being too warm.
Check the routing of the cables and make sure all fans are present and operating normally. You
should also check to make sure that the chassis covers and fan shrouds are installed properly. This
LED will remain flashing or on as long as the indicated condition exists.
The “blue light” function (UID) of this LED is used to identify a specific server in large racks
filled with equipment. When activated through the system software the “blue light” will remain
on until shut down by the administrator.

NIC1
When flashing, the NIC1 LED indicates network activity on the LAN1 port (see
Figure 3-6
).
