1 Safety Instructions
Read the operating manual carefully. Follow all instructions and notices to prevent injury or
damage to property.
Intended use
The flow sensors of the series VTY may only be used for flow rate measurements or dosing
of liquids. Never use them for gas measurements.
WARNING
The turbine flow sensors of the series VTY are no safety components in accord-
ance with Directive 2006/42/EC (Machine Directive

Never use the device as a safety component.
The operational safety of the device supplied is only guaranteed by intended use. The speci-
fied limits (

p. 23) may under no circumstances be exceeded.
Before installation, check whether the material of the turbine flow sensor is suitable for the
medium to be measured and other media used (e.g. disinfectants and detergents) (

p. 22).
Qualified personnel
•
The personnel in charge of the installation, operation and maintenance of the device
must hold a relevant qualification. This can be based on training or relevant instructions.
•
The electrical connection may only be carried out by a fully qualified electrician.
General safety instructions
•
Prevent freezing of the medium with appropriate measures.
•
Due to the material used, the devices are not suitable for monitoring oils. The strength of
the used plastic parts would be considerably reduced.
•
The bearings of the flow sensor can be damaged when blowing out.

Never blow out the flow sensor with compressed air.
•
Only use the device if it is in perfect condition. Damaged or faulty devices must be
checked immediately and, if necessary, replaced.
•
Do not remove or obliterate type plates or other markings on the device, as otherwise, the
warranty is rendered null and void.
Exclusion of liability
We accept no liability for any damage or malfunctions resulting from incorrect installation, inappropri-
ate use of the device or failure to follow the instructions in this operating manual.
