Depending on the transmission process or connection management, a further distinction is
made:

Interface connections (connection via VBC021, VMC052 or UDP)
•
FlexCon = Flexible Constellation = Safety Hot Swap (connection via VBC021 or VMC052)

When to use an Interface Connection or FlexCon
In many cases, both are possible. Below are the basic advantages of the individual
processes.
12.7.1.1 Advantages of Interface Connections in Comparison with FlexCon
•
Freely configurable communication (number and type of safe signal can be selected and
must match the opposite station exactly)
•
Different communication between various participants in the same network is possible
(communication between machine A and B can differ from communication between
machine C and B)
12.7.1.2 Advantages of FlexCon in Comparison with Interface Connection
•
Enables safe communication with unknown machine components, which via FlexCon,
automatically have the same communication structure (same number of in- and output
signals)
•
With several optional machine parts, if only a few safe signals are required, a system can
easily be created in which individual nodes are safely logged off during runtime, while the
rest of the network continues to run without errors.
