Follow these steps to connect a SCALANCE XCM-300 with a SCALANCE LPE:

1. Disconnect the two devices from the power supply.

2. Remove the function extender interface cover on the SCALANCE XCM-300.

3. Remove the connector cover on the SCALANCE LPE.

4. Fit the two devices together so that the two centering pins

are accommodated by the

opposing openings

③

5. Press the devices together until they are flush.

The centering pins click audibly into place. The locking device

is automatically pressed up

briefly as this happens.

6. Connect the SCALANCE XCM-300 to the power supply.

The SCALANCE XCM-300 supplies the SCALANCE LPE with power over the function extender
interface.

Disconnecting devices

NOTICE
Danger of damage to property

The two devices cannot be disconnected during operation. Disconnect the two devices from
the power supply before disconnecting the devices.

Follow these steps to disconnect a SCALANCE XCM-300 and a SCALANCE LPE:

1. Disconnect the two devices from the power supply.

2. Release the locking device using a screwdriver

The two devices are separated from each other.

3. Pull the two devices apart in a straight line until the two centering pins

are completely out

of the openings

③

4. Close the function extender interface on the basic device and the connector on the

SCALANCE LPE with the corresponding covers.

• Before starting work, ensure that the electricity is switched off.
