Überblick Netztopologien
Mit den SIMATIC NET Optical Link Modulen sind alle in der PNO–Richtlinie “Optische Übertra-
gungstechnik für PROFIBUS” vorgesehenen Netztopologien realisierbar:
Punkt zu Punkt–Verbindung
Linientopologie
Ringtopologie (Einfaserring)
Sterntopologie
Auch Kombinationen aus diesen Grundtypen sind möglich. Ebenso ist eine beliebige Kombination
eines oder mehrerer elektrischer RS 485–Bussegmente mit diesen Netztopologien möglich.
Redundante optische Ringe werden vom OLM12M nicht unterstützt.

Linientopologie
Der Vorteil dieser Topologie liegt in der Möglichkeit große Strecken zu überbrücken, und an jedes
Optical Link Module beliebig aktive Busteilnehmer (Master) und passive Busteilnehmer (Slaves)
anschließen zu können.
Eingestelle Betriebsarten: L=Line, I=Inactive

Optische Linienstruktur
Die einzelnen SIMATIC NET Optical Link Module OLM12M sind paarweise durch Duplex LWL mit-
einander verbunden.
Alle an die optische Linienstruktur angeschlossenen optischen Kanäle sind in Betriebsart ’Line’ ge-
schaltet. Die optischen Kanäle am Anfang und am Ende der Linie müssen, wenn sie nicht verwen-
det werden, in Betriebsart ’Inactive’ geschaltet sein.
An jedem Optical Link Module sind einzelne Endgeräte oder ein vollständiges PROFIBUS–Seg-
ment mit maximal 31 Teilnehmern über den elektrischen Kanal mit RS485–Schnittstelle anschließ-
bar.
Durch die Monitoring–Funktion ist eine Überwachung der einzelnen LWL–Strecken durch die bei-
den daran angeschlossenen Optical Link Module möglich.
Fällt ein Optical Link Module aus oder bricht eine LWL–Leitung, zerfällt das Gesamtnetz in zwei
Teilnetze. Innerhalb dieser Teilnetze ist ein störungsfreier Betrieb möglich.
