Based on the aforementioned application parameters, the maximum measuring range
is 5 m (for the highest mounting height and lowest tilt angle as per the last table row).
The PC software SOPAS ET also provides several other parameters for adjusting the
sensitivity of the ground reference evaluation.
3.5.8.7
Edge filter
The edge filter eliminates erroneous or extreme distance values at edges. These arise
as a result of laser light that partially hits an object in the front and partially hits an
object farther away, or due to too little light remission at the object itself,
of object surfaces on the measurement", page 13
. The filter evaluates the difference in
distance between adjacent points.
When the edge filter is activated, the device sets the distance value to 0 at each edge
(values in
bold
) as soon as the parameterized neighbor distance has been exceeded in
the edge filter area.

The edge filter enables points to be entirely suppressed at the outer edges of the
object. In this case, the width of an object is detected by up to 2× angular resolution too
narrow.
Maximum neighboring distance
The maximum distance difference in millimeters between two measuring points on the
edge can be parameterized. A measuring point on the edge that has a greater distance
difference than the parameterized value to its adjacent measuring point is taken into
account.
