Priming the Pump
Sibrape motor pumps that have a pre-filter are self-
priming (ability to self-expel the air contained in the
suction pipe or flexible hose of the pool and return
cleaner).
The excellent priming system of the pumps makes
them fast-priming. The smaller the volume of air
contained in the pipeline, the shorter the priming time.
Therefore, it is recommended to install the pump
as close as possible to the pool and use pipes with a
diameter equal to or greater than the nominal pump.
When greater efficiency is required in priming the
motor pump installed on a suction pipe longer than 3
(three) meters long and height above 2 (two) meters, it
is recommended to install a check valve on the suction
pipe below the pool water’s level in order to prevent
water drainage in the pipe. This check valve has to be
accessible in order to perform maintenance to it.
Priming is done as follows:
•Remove the pre-filter cover by turning it manually by
its fins in a counterclockwise direction.
•Fill up to the water level of the pre-filter. The water
must reach the suction nozzle’s top level.
•Replace the pre-filter cover. Rotate it manually by its
fins clockwise, until you feel that your sealing O’ ring
has properly accommodated itself in the pre-filter body.
Note: Do not over-tighten the pre-filter cover.
If there is a leak between the cover and the pre-filter,
pay attention to the following details:
1 - Make sure that the seal O’ ring is correctly housed
in the cover.
2 - If the leak persists, replace the sealing O’ ring. Do
not try to improve the cover seal by applying the same
sealing tape.
3 - Grease the cap thread and / or the sealing O’ ring
with silicone grease. This procedure makes it easy to
thread the cap and lock it, preventing it from jamming.
* Pumps with less power may have difficulty performing
priming when installed above the water’s level; this type
of installation is recommended for pumps above 3/4 hp.
Operation
After priming - complete removal of air from the piping
- observe the operation of the pump and visible piping
in order to identify possible leaks.
Pre-Filter Cleaning
Frequently inspect the state of saturation of the pre-
filter basket, through the transparent cover. If the
basket is full of leaves, algae, pebbles, or foreign
objects, clean it, proceeding as follows:
1 - Turn off the electric motor.
2 - If the motor pump is below water level, close the
suction valve (a check valve must be installed in the
return line and after the filter.
3 - Remove the pre-filter cover.
4 - Remove the collecting basket and clean it, washing
it with water. If necessary, use a brush to unblock the
holes.
5 - Replace the basket and the lid.
6 - If the motor pump is below water level, open the
suction and discharge valves and start the electric
motor.
7 - If the motor pump is above water level, perform its
priming again.
ATTENTION!
- Do not over-tighten the pre-filter cover.
- Use only silicone grease on the cap thread and on
the sealing O’ rings.
- Never start the pump without water in the pre-filter
canister.
ATTENTION!
Never use solvents to clean this equipment, only
neutral detergents.
Water chemical parameters:
The chemical parameters of the water must be properly
regulated, the chemical imbalance can cause damage
to the equipment and loss of warranty.

Combined Chlorine: 0.2 ppm
pH: 7.4 - 7.8
Salt: 3400 ppm
Calcium hardness: 200 - 400
