Troubleshooting
No Light
This troubleshooting guide is meant to help solve simple problems.
If a problem occurs, carry out the steps below in sequence until a solution is found. Once the unit
operates properly, do not carry out following steps.
If the light effect does not operate properly, refer servicing to a technician.
Response: Suspect three potential problem areas as: the power supply, the laser, the fuse.
01)
Power supply. Check that the unit is plugged into an appropriate power supply.
02)
The laser. Return the Galactic to your Showtec dealer.
03)
The fuse. Replace the fuse. See page 21 for replacing the fuse.
04)
If all of the above appears to be O.K., plug the unit in again.
05)
If you are unable to determine the cause of the problem, do not open the Galactic, as this may
damage the unit and the warranty will become void.
06)
Return the device to your Showtec dealer.
No Response to DMX
Response: Suspect the DMX cable or connectors, a controller malfunction, a light effect DMX card
malfunction.
01)
Check the DMX setting. Make sure that DMX addresses are correct.
02)
Check the DMX polarity.
03)
Check the DMX cable: Unplug the unit; change the DMX cable; then reconnect to electrical power.
Try your DMX control again.
04)
If you have intermittent DMX signal problems, check the pins on connectors of the fixture or the
previous one
05)
Determine whether the controller or light effect is at fault. Does the controller operate properly with
other DMX products ? If not, take the controller in for repair. If so, take the DMX cable and the light
effect to a qualified technician.
06)
Check to see if the DMX cables run near or run alongside to high voltage cables that may cause
damage or interference to DMX interface circuit.
The fixture is powered on, but no laser coming out from aperture
01)
Check the glass aperture cover on the front side. Smoke-fluid tends to build up residues, reducing
the light-output very quickly.
02)
Check whether the key switch (

) is set to ON.
03)
Check whether the interlock plug (

) is connected.
04)
Allow at least 30 minutes to warm up, when operating in low temperatures.
05)
Check whether the device is in Sound mode, but no sound signal is present.
06)
Check whether the device is in Slave mode.
07)
Check whether the device is in DMX mode, but no DMX signal is present.
The laser effect power is very weak
01)
Allow at least 30 minutes to warm up, when operating in low temperatures.
02)
Clean the scanner mirror with alcohol.
03)
Clean the aperture glass on the front side with alcohol.
The laser is on, but the pattern is not moving
01)
Check whether the device is in Sound mode but the microphone is not detecting any sound signals.
02)
Change the setting of the laser to a stand-alone program. Does the laser work ?
03)
Try to control the fixture in DMX mode. Does the laser work ?
