Spellcheck function (Rechtschreibprüfung)
The German spellcheck function can be helpful when the exact spelling of a query
word is not known.
<Example>
You are not sure whether ‘Standart’ or ‘Standard’ is correct.
1. Press
d
,

, then
e
, to open
the input screen of the spellcheck function.
2. Enter ‘Standart’.
3. Press
e
to initiate the spellcheck
function.
Words with similar spellings will be listed.
• While ‘Suche... Zum Beenden [ENTER]
drücken.’ is visible, press
e
to stop
the search. Note that if the search is interrupted, the list of possible results
may not include all the closest matches.
• If the word is typed with the correct spelling, it will appear at the top of the
displayed list.
4. In the list, select a desired word using the
number keys (press
1
in this example). The
detail view of the word is displayed.
• Press
f
to return to the previous view.
• Press
^ l
to list the headwords in
Duden – Die deutsche Rechtschreibung.
Note:
• Up to 100 words may be displayed in the list.
If the list of words do not appear as expected:
• Searching for words with particular spellings may take more time to complete
than others.
• If no word is given, a message ‘Nicht gefunden!’ will momentarily be displayed,
followed by the input screen of the spellcheck function. In this case you may wish
to start the search again with a new spelling for the word.
Note:
• If you are not sure which is the correct spelling of a word, the place holder
search with ‘?’ in the menu ‘Kreuzworträtsel lösen’ will help. Refer to page 31.
