Warning notes
•
The belts should be put on
before each journey–even in town
traffic! This also applies to the rear
seats.
•
The maximum level of protection
by the seat belts can only be
attained if the belts are worn prop-
erly.
•
Please ensure that the belts are
put on exactly as described in this
chapter.
Putting the seat belt on under-
neath your arm, for example,
would considerably increase the
risk of injury in the case of an acci-
dent!
•
The belt must not be twisted or
caught, nor should it be allowed to
rub on any sharp edges.
•
Two people (including children)
must never be secured with one
belt. It is particularly dangerous to
belt your child in when it is sitting
on your lap.
•
The belt strap should not be
worn over hard or breakable arti-
cles (glasses, ball pens, etc...), as
it may cause injuries.
•
Bulky and loose clothing (e.g.
an overcoat on top of a jacket),
hinder correct fitting and working
of the seat belt.
•
The belts give maximum protec-
tion only in the correct seating
position – see also page 2.39.
