Dialling Rules
Dialling Rules
Each calling card defines three dialling rules; one each for local, long
distance and international calls. Each rule consists of characters used to
convert the number input to a Windows TAPI application into dialling. The
process of conversion consists of four steps:
1. Isolate the country code, area code and local number in the input.
2. Compare the area and country code input to the area and country
code of the current location to decide whether the call is local, long
distance, or international.
3. Use the corresponding dialling rule of the selected calling card to
generate the correct series of digits to dial.
4. Apply the appropriate outside line access code to the dialling.
The dialling rule consists of characters of two types; characters directly
copied into the diallable number and characters that copy some portion of
the input or card number into the diallable number.
