6.3 Batteries & Battery

Switches - Twin Engines

Twin Engine boats have four batteries. There is

one battery for each engine and two batteries

wired in parallel for the house and electronics

circuits. The engine and house batteries can be

temporarily connected in parallel by the Parallel

switch in the helm or DC panel to provide addi-

tional starting current for each engine.

The batteries supplied by your dealer are the

size and capacity batteries recommended by the

engine manufacturer. These specifications should

be considered the minimum size battery required.

There are three motorized battery switches and

two emergency battery parallel switches in the

battery switch panel located in the helm storage

compartment. The battery switches can be acti-

vated or deactivated remotely by labeled switches

in the DC panel, wirelessly using the key FOB

remote or manually by rotating the knob on each

switch. The parallel switches can be activated by

The house battery is charged by the accessory

charge circuit on the engines whenever they are

operating. The engine batteries are dedicated

to starting and operating the engines. They are

charged by the engines whenever they are oper-

ating. The engine and house batteries are also

charged by the battery charger when plugged into

shore power.

The motorized battery and parallel switches can be

controlled remotely, in Auto Mode, by switches in

the cabin DC panel and the Parallel switch at the

helm or manually, in Manual Mode, by turning the

knob on the switches. There are LED lights on both

the remote switches and the battery switches that

indicate battery switch mode and status. These

lights will blink when the switch has been activated

and the motor is turning the battery switch ON or

OFF. The Emergency Parallel switches operate in

exactly the same manor as the battery switches.
