4-6 PRESSERS
4.6.1 PRESSER BEFORE LEFT VERTICAL UNIT
The presser (G fig. 4.28) is aligned with the horizontal pressers during testing and does not normally require
adjustment.
Any adjustments should be made by means of screw (F fig. 4.28) after loosening the locknut.
Screw (H) functions as a stop and must provide a maximum presser travel of 15 mm.
When the pressure pad (G) is at maximum travel, its end must be at a safety distance of 5 mm from maximum
tool diameter.
This setting is made by loosening screw (L) and moving the presser body (M).
The pressure of the pressure pad (G) can be adjusted by means of knob (P).
4.6.2 PRESSURE PAD AFTER THE LEFT VERTICAL UNIT
The pressure pad (P fig. 4.29) is aligned with the tool diameter of the Left Vertical during testing and does not
normally require adjustment.
To make adjustment, loosen screws (N) and move the presser body .
Set the pressure pad (P) parallel to the right fence by means of stop screw (Q fig. 4.29)
The screw (R) acts as a stop and must provide a maximum pressure pad travel of 3 mm.
When the presser is at maximum travel, its end must be at a safety distance of 5 mm from maximum tool diameter.
This setting is made by loosening the screws on the front of the pressure pad itself.
The pressure of the pressure pad can be adjusted by means of knob (S).
4.6.3 PRESSER AFTER THE UPPER HORIZONTAL UNIT
The presser (R fig. 4.30) is height adjustable by means of knob (S). The pad (T) must be aligned with the cutting
edge of the tool.
When thin pieces are being machined (eg., matchboard), the drive wheel (V fig. 4.31) must be raised by means of knob
(K) (as this would push the piece into the gap of the Lower Horizontal, thereby increasing the amount of material
removed); loosen screws (Y), pull out the pad (T fig. 4.30) and turn by 180°.
