Before the initial use and after each use:
always rinse all parts of the aromatic steamer
thoroughly, and dry them off well. When cleaning by hand, please use hot water, a standard
washing up liquid, a soft cloth or a sponge, or a soft brush. Hard objects, wire wool or abrasive
detergents are not suitable. When using a dishwasher, please keep to the dishwasher powder
recommended by the manufacturer of the appliance.
For the glass lid (as it can become milky if cleaned frequently in the dishwasher) and the ther-
mometer, just use some washing up liquid and a damp cloth. Do not clean in the dishwasher or
under running water or immerse it in the sink.

Steaming:
steaming means cooking using steam in a special cooking vessel, such as the Wega
aromatic steamer. During steaming, valuable vitamins and minerals, the form, taste and colour
of the food being cooked are preserved, as the food is cooked in rising hot steam, without tou-
ching the water itself. Almost all food, such as vegetables, potatoes, fish and meat, is suitable
for steaming.
Fill the steamer pot with approx. 1 litre water and, if applicable, some ingredients for flavouring
the stock.
note:
there should only be so much water in the steamer pot that it does not reach
the food being cooked, even when it is boiling
. Heat everything with a closed lid. As soon as the
liquid is boiling, place the food to be cooked in the steamer insert and put this into the steamer
pot. Use both handles for this.
note:
please ensure that the wire handles are always only inser-
ted into the slots provided for this
. Then fold the handles to the side and put on the lid. Insert
the steam thermometer into the lid knob in advance. The hot water produces steam that allows
the food to be cooked. When the optimum cooking temperature is reached, reduce the heat
supply. Monitor the cooking temperature at regular intervals and adapt the temperature setting.
Ensure that there is always sufficient liquid in the pot during steaming. As far as possible, keep
the lid closed throughout during steaming.
As soon as the food is cooked in the steamer insert, remove the steamer insert carefully, using
both handles.
note:
the wire handles may be very hot. Therefore, as a precaution, touch the
handles with a pot holder. The thermometer may also be hot. Therefore, also use a pot holder
when removing this from the lid knob
.
Boiling:
place the steamer pot in the centre of a hob that matches the diameter of its base,
and pour liquid (e.g. water, stock) into the pot. Ensure that the pot is not filled up to the rim –
approximately 2/3 of its specified nominal capacity is deemed its maximum capacity. In general,
more than the quantity of liquid (e.g. water, stock) actually required should never be used. For
parboiling, turn the hob up to its highest heat setting. As soon as the liquid begins to bool, cut
down the energy supply and continue to cook on a lower heat setting. Please only add salt to
boiling water or hot food. This helps you to avoid grains of salt sinking to the base of the pot
and causing small holes there (chloride pitting). Ensure that boiling takes place with the lid in
place, as energy will be consumed unnecessarily otherwise.
