When illuminating heat-sensitive or flammable light-absorbing objects, pay
particular attention to selecting the light guide spacing and intensity so that
no thermal damage occurs to the object. Since light-absorbing materials have
the physical property of converting incident light into heat, damage can occur
to heat-sensitive or flammable light-absorbing materials.
•
All light guide outputs must always be at a safe distance – at least 10 cm – from
heat-sensitive or flammable light-absorbing materials when the light source is
switched on (avoid possible fire hazard).
•
Reduce the brightness and duration of illumination of biological tissue to
avoid unnecessary exposure of biological tissue to visible light illumination.
•
Keep all ventilation openings free. In case of insufficient cooling, an
integrated thermal switch will regulate the light intensity of the light source.
•
Safe disconnection from the power supply is only achieved by pulling out
the plug.
•
Do not open or disassemble the device. Refrain from making technical
modifications to the device.
•
Allow the filter slider and insert filter to cool down before removing the insert
filter. The filter slider must always be in a detent position when operating the
light source (see “Filter slide”).
•
Allow the light guide to cool down before replacing it. We recommend that
you switch off the light source for about five minutes before replacing the
light guide.
