PARKING BRAKE ADJUSTMENT
6.1
WARNING
Do not operate the mower if the parking brake
is not operable. Possible severe injury could
result.
The parking brake linkage should be adjusted whenever the
parking brake lever is placed in the “ENGAGE” position and
the parking brake will not prevent the mower from moving.
If the following procedures do not allow you to engage the
parking brake properly, contact your Scag dealer for further
brake adjustments.
Park the machine on a flat surface and block the

caster wheels to prevent the machine from moving.
Remove the ignition key.
Disengage the parking brake. See Figure 6-1.

Tilt the seat forward to gain access to the brake

control linkage.
Remove the cotter pin securing the pivot to the brake

control linkage. See Figure 6-2.
Push down on the brake control rod until it stops to

disengage the parking brake.
Adjust the pivot until it meets the mounting hole.
6.
Insert the pivot into the brake control linkage and
secure with the cotter pin.
Repeat steps 4 thru 6 on the other side of the

machine.
Test the parking brake.

If this procedure does not achieve proper brake
adjustment, please contact your authorized Scag
dealer.
